Speedskating: Skate clubs are on a roll
The highly successful Team Rollerblade and South Woodham Ferrers RSC clubs have tasted more glory in the fourth stop of the Inline Speed Skating outdoor season at Enfield’s Tatem Park.
Representing the trademark silver and black colours of Team Rollerblade was Wickford youngster Sam Morrison and multi-national champion Chanel Moore, who hails from South Woodham.
Eager to bag trophies, Chanel made the most of her chance and eased to victory in category three after clinching two first places over distances of 1000 and 2000m.
Chanel also came first in an exciting finish to the 5000m devils, beating off her rivals to secure her second prize of the day.
Sam, not known for his achievements in the longer distances, pulled out third spot in both of his category races of 3000m and 1500m, securing third place overall.
First to represent South Woodham Ferrers RSC were the winning trio of Matt Jablonski, Josh Hatcher and Bethany Clayden.
They collected first, second and third respectively, skating category five distances of 1000m and 300m.
In the longer of the two races Matt was the stronger skater, coming through from Josh to take first place, with Bethany not far behind.
However, the tables were turned in the shorter race with Josh sprinting his way to the finish line, leaving Matt in second place with Bethany again finishing closely behind in third place.
